Australia has become one of the most attractive countries for Tourism in the World and the reasons are simple: for a long time traditional tourist destinations such as Europe, USA, England, Mediterranean and many others, used to attract tourists for their history, architecture, shopping, beauty, beaches and development. Meanwhile Australia was considered too far and expensive to go, except for Asia residents. With the world changing significantly and cities growing in an astonishing pace, a few place were left untouched and pristine as Australia today. The size of the country and the surprises each region and city offers, has made Australia a kind of last frontier. That is exactly what you will find in Australia...Nice beaches, nice cities, friendly and happy people and lots of incredible thing to see and do. The best of all, is that the airfares to and inside Australia has never been so inviting to experiment this exciting country.
As I said before, travel in Australia is very easy, and you don't need to worry too much about reservations except in the holiday periods and during some school breaks where you may find less options, or if you are going to do some parts by plane. Accommodation of all levels and prices are also plenty, and depending of the place you go, you may have to book in advance. (Example: Backpackers in Surfers Paradise can be complete booked during the "Schoolies Week" in November, or good accommodation in Melbourne can be also full during the formula 1 race). But even with these big events, if you move some kilometres far away of the area of the event, there is no way to go wrong. Come to visit Australia and have the time of you life. Tourist Destinations In Australia
Cairns, (pictured above) is located a little above parallel 17ºS, on a flat plain between the sea and the mountains. Despite the ocean water being very clean, the bottom is muddy. Anyway, going North or South you will find the most beautiful beaches surrounded by palm trees, white sand and thick tropical forests. Cairns has an excellent tourist infra-structure with wonderful hotels, and they are crowded with people from all over the world. In Cairns you can choose to stay quiet and calm, or pump your adrenaline in many different tourist attractions. The Great Barrier Reef in front of Cairns, is the area where the reef is closer to the shore; therefore easier to visit. Also, the mountains surrounding Cairns have many impressive beautiful places, and tours to entertain all ages.
Leaving Cairns and traveling about 40 km north by is Port Douglas. (photo). The City is small but very inviting. It attracts tourists from all over the world not only for the spectacular Great Barrier Reef, but also because it is the exit point to the Daintree National Park and Cape Tribulation. Daintree National Park is a unique example of forest diversity and beauty. It is dense and receives a large amount of rain all year round. The rivers and canals that cross the Park, have amazing wildlife, fish and also salt water crocodiles. There are tours to visit the crocks in their natural habitat. Also; the Park hosts a large number of different species of birds such as parrots and rosellas. If you are visiting the Park by yourself, is advisable to use 4x4 vehicles because the road can become impassable for normal vehicles during heavy rain. If you wish, there are tours to Daintree National Park from Cairns and Port Douglas and you can overnight in the tourist lodges near the Park.

The Fraser Island is not a region, but only one island that is part of the Fraser Coast. The reason for including it on a separate page, due to the fact that one of the most remarkable places in Australia. The Island has approx. 120 km long by 15 km wide, and besides being World Heritage Site, has 1 / 3 of the total area as a national park, known as The Great Sandy National Park (photo above). The island is composed entirely of sand, is considered the largest sand island in the world, with dunes and forest formations that reach 180 meters above sea level. To bring the car to the island (4x4 only), or camping outside the camping, you need a permit, which can be purchased in Hervey Bay or on the island when they arrived. Anyway, if you're staying at a campsite, hostel or any other type of accommodation registered and licensed, you need not pay for hosting this permission. The island is a paradise for those who enjoy pristine nature, fishing, hiking, bird watching, white sandy beaches and warm water cristaliana, or simply do nothing.
The Fraser Island has approximately 200 freshwater lakes and cristaliana, which are filtered through the fine sand. Lake McKenzie (pictured) is the most famous, and better for swimming, with ultra white sand and warm waters. Because this lake is the most famous, no longer the most peaceful, as hundreds of tourists visit the next day McKenzie. If you want a secluded place, the ideal is to find another lake, through the hundreds of hiking trails well marked on the island. Not to lose, you are advised to purchase soon on his arrival at Fraser Island, where a detailed map of all trails are marked, as well as places of special interest, historical explanations, where one buys petrol, food, medicine, etc ...
